Why Do This ?

My name is Chuck and I live in the north central part of New Mexico.  This blog is really just a place for me to keep track of the movies that I view.  If you are moved to add comments, please do.  I’m not expecting you to always agree with me, but let me know what you think about the movies I have seen.  Most of my posts will be movies that I have seen recently.  Once in a while I will make a ‘theme’ post; a particular genre, director or actor.

I tend to watch films that interest me.  If the characters or plot don’t grab me, I rarely spend effort on it.  I will watch a movie if it is recommended to me, even if I originally wasn’t interested.  I have had a few surprises based on recommendations but that is certainly not the rule.  However, I can generally appreciate a movie even if I didn’t like it.  I am not one of those people that thinks every one else’s jobs appear to be more easy than mine.  I can acknowledge that there is a special skill that is required.  As such, it is rare that I think a film is without value.

I tend to like short films and independent films and have a whole different set of expectations for those.  By living near Santa Fe, I am blessed to have access to a wide selection of ‘art theaters’ for a diverse experience.  I am also not scared of subtitles.  If a story is good, I want to see it.  Nor am I a snob.  I have liked some really crappy movies, just ask my friends. 

If you think I might like a film, based on my capsules on this blog, please let me know.  I am always looking for ideas for my NetFlix queue or hopefully, something to watch on a real screen. Also, you will see that I tend to write with a lot of parenthetical thoughts, that’s my crutch.
